On BPO!

ASSOCHAM & all the other important people ‘in the know’ are still involved in deep discussions to find out ways taking which the ‘DEAD BPO INDUSTRY’ is resurrected! They don’t know, for sure, they are searching for ‘The Alchemy’ which changes the base metal into gold! Or else, they forget that they are the ‘Reverse Alchemists’ who changed gold into base metal, taking all these years, which were wholesomely at their disposal!

This following article was written in the month of December 2008, in the BLOG – www.viewcrackers.blogspot.com – in an attempt to stall what was, at that time, 5 years back, stoppable – the Evaporation of Indian BPO Sector & the Processes! Nobody seemed to be interested about what had been written in the BLOG. Now, after all these years, Indian BPO Industry is a total mess where ‘QUALITY’ is an extinct species!

Processes, where calling was involved, have flown away to countries like Philippines & the HRs and the Voice &Accent Trainers here in India are still trying to prove a point or two about the ‘Mother Tongue Influence’ of the candidate in their heavily mother tongue influenced languages, ‘Foolishly’ Thinking That The Mother Tongue Influence Automatically Vanishes Just After One Becomes An HR or Voice & Accent Trainer, Evaluating The Candidates! They also pretend that Good Grammatical English Is the Worst English they have ever come across, as they seldom know what English Grammar Is!!

India (Not Bharat!?) has been made famous for the Back Door Entry (BDE), all over the world, and the world famous Rating Agencies rank India Number 1 in ‘Back Door Entry’! And, it is amusing to know that it is the same principle of ‘The Back Door’ that is VEHEMENTLY applied & followed in the BPO Industry in India, as, if one looks @ the existing scenario, one NEVER FAILS to find some sections of society recruiting their own sections into the jobs available in the BPO Industry; the region, religion, cast etc playing the MOST DOMINANT ROLE in the selection process; for example, people from certain regions selecting the people from their OWN regions, people from certain religions selecting the people from their OWN religions etc for the Quality BPO Jobs!

The people in the thick of the BPO Action have refuted the charges of Cast, Creed, Region, Religion etc colouring the Secular BPO Industry as they ASSERT that, after all, it is a Secular BPO Country, where cast, creed etc don’t have ‘THAT MUCH’ of an influence in Our BPO Constitution!

Here, below, we give the article which was published in 2008 on BPO Industry that everyone can have a Secular & Impartial BPO Assessment & see what it had been then and then come to the present day to rue the present BPO Situation!

At last, the death is coming for the BPO Industry.......! Riding the waves all these years the point of acid test is here! And surviving it and be the thing what it was/had been before the test came is almost impossible! It’s well stated that we can not avoid the Unavoidable! All these years the BPO industry has been taking things for granted. Almost all the people working in the industry took it for granted. Everyone thought of the industry as some sort of a bush, thistle, shrub, grass or an unknown plant which is there and will be there forever even though nothing is done to grow it! They confidently believed that it’s not even important to think that its there!

The so called authorities who have been commenting on the industry in positive tones for eons - what are these authorities for other than commenting continuously on something?! - continue trumpeting over the greatness on the things in the industry! They keep saying about something that they think are the most important things about the industry! Everyone conveniently forgets what this industry basically is and why it came to India in such a BIG WAY! Even those who are there in the BPO industry and those who think they lead the society and nation think about this ‘Panacea’ for the root decaying deadly decease called 'Joblessness or Unemployment' as another 'Somehow Grown' shrub or plant which if seen is ok or else don’t mind.

People who even don’t know this plant which is a panacea, fish very powerful microscopes out of their deep pockets as a juggler does and point out to the public the microscopic organisms living on the surface of its leaves as something 'Very Dangerous' and declare that these microorganisms were the 'Real Reason' for the extinction of the 'Good Old Flesh Eating Dinosaurs! 'Media spread this news of 'very dangerous organisms existing on the surface of its leaves' all over the nation and people develop a new phobia named by the experts who found out these' Deadly Organisms' as 'BPO Phobia'! The much respected and knowledgeable teachers of all the colleges and universities stand together to spread this 'piece of information' about 'the organisms', and they, with ‘other thought leaders and social strategists’, and with the help of media declare this plant an evil!

Hundreds of thousands of people earn their livelihood from this industry; but
they all forgot that it is efficiency, quality and the like things which are the most important things which should be maintained at any cost! They completely forgot the basic rule "Give Quality (work) & Take Quality (remuneration)! The personnel who were in the responsible positions of recruiting quality people did underhand dealings to recruit sub-standard people into the positions of responsibility & quality. They compromised everything the BPO Industry stood for! The HR People of a lot of BPO Companies thrived due to this illicit relationship with the outside recruitment people and hundreds of poor quality, inefficient and qualityless people were recruited to man the positions which should have been manned by those who 'Knew Things' or at the least knew '1+1=2!!!'

In the years of BPO Sunrise, when no other country was able to give what India did for it's customers, it was well assumed that anything would sink in unnoticed and without questions being asked! But, seeing this huge opportunity, other countries started preparations and they started to train their people to give the quality the foreign companies expect and need from Quality BPO Services! As years went by, those countries, armed with the quality built over the years, started to take away small chunks in the beginning and later large pieces from the cake India for a long time tasted alone - all these years our Indian HRs getting perks for recruiting the wrong & poor quality people, who performed pathetically, into the industry!

Now, the things have come to a full circle; what India once stood for - quality, competitive prices, efficiency etc. - other countries are offering, as the Indian BPO Industry wade through the quagmire of inefficiency, poor pricing and extreme lack of quality it has created for itself, taking all these years! Hundreds of jobs are lost; existing processes vanish into thin air; new processes come only by trickles! Yet, 'the people in the know' continue their stupor and 'the Quality HR People' in the companies do their best to continue their stupid practises to Upgrade Inefficiency & Incompetence! Let us all stand by the dying industry & hope the malady - which is a very large part of the present day BPO Industry itself! - disappear, somehow!!!

BPO [Business Process Outsourcing] has been one the fads of the modern day India. As the current sources of revenue face slower growth, software companies are trying new ways to increase their revenues. BPO is top on their list today. IT services companies are making a quick entry into the BPO space on the strength of their existing set of clients. We hope to TALK ABOUT all the issues related to BPOs in India, in this community!

The philosophy behind BPO is specific, do what you do best and leave everything else to business process outsourcers. Companies are moving their non-core business processes to outsource providers. BPO saves precious management time and resources and allows focus while building upon core competencies. The list of functions being outsourced is getting longer by the day. Call centres apart, functions outsourced span purchasing and disbursement, order entry, billing and collection, human resources administration, cash and investment management, tax compliance, internal audit, pay roll...the list gets longer everyday.

As new people jump in hordes into the BPO bandwagon, due to the GREAT PAY PACKAGES BPOs Offer, it becomes extremely important to maintain quality of a very high standard that the clients get the value for the money they pay! And here comes in Quality Measurements and Standards that often requires quality development and upgradation on a regular basis!

The Degradation At BPOs!
The degradation has already set in, in the BPO industry with a lot of inefficient and boot licking persons reaching very higher in the hierarchy which will cost the BPO industry a fortune, in the near future! The pathetic and terrifying fact is that nobody is aware of the decay at the roots of the industry and everybody is happy about the peripheral beauty and calm prevailing in the BPO industry!

Doomed Sooner Than Later!
The BPO industry is doomed if this is the standard followed in the recruitment/HR process....Here, the most urgent cleansing is required....!Or else Indian BPO industry won’t survive the testing times which will come sooner than later!

Yes, the people working in the BPO industry know what sort of quality HR people provide! They also know what these HR people think of themselves. These Stupid Bunch Of People think of themselves as somebody divine that they think they never make HIMALAYAN BLUNDERS!

Who The Devil Will Take The Responsibility?????
A day after a call centre employee was stabbed to death in Bangalore, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) Thursday called for tighter security of BPO staff members.

The security of the personnel working in the $30 billion IT and ITes industries is of paramount importance for maintaining not only the confidence of the employees, many of whom work for night shifts, but also the investors," said ASSOCHAM president Anil Agarwal in separate letters to chief ministers of Karnataka, Delhi and Haryana.

The request was made to these three states as they host the maximum number of BPOs and IT firms.

All these things are the exact copy of the things which happened earlier as well, a couple of times!! All this verbal war will be waged to their stupid end without any concrete measure being taken to prevent any sort of repetition of such incidents!

Even the BPO employees consider these sorts of gruesome happenings as something happening in Antarctica without knowing it may be THEIR LUCK TO FILL IN THE NEXT SLOT!

BPOs Cheating Candidates!!!
Most of the Call Centers/BPOs are cheating candidates. Pieces of information about the vacancies they have, the HRs in call centers have given to the consultancies and candidates are almost wrong. Without knowing this, candidates go to companies and attend stupid rounds there. After spending a lot of their precious time & money they come to know that they are not through the rounds or they have an MTI at the edge of their tongue or any stupid and unsatisfactory feedback. Actually that's not their problem. The reason is that, company doesn't have any requirement or they have already closed their recruitment or the lack of quality of HRs in evaluating people.

What do you people think about this type of behaviour we have seen in hell lot of companies.....

What you have written is very correct! But who is bothered?? Even those candidates who are CONTINUOUSLY FOOLED by the stupid HR Persons of BPO Firms & Consultancies take all these kind of Insult, lying down!!What to do??!!

BPO LOGIN

B.P.O (Business Process Outsourcing) Industry has been a great job provider all these years, particularly from the year 2000!

The last 11 years have seen the people working in the B.P.O Industry multiply like anything and it has become an industry where a person just out of college can start with a decent salary of around 10000/-, free food & transportation facilities! The only thing required in the B.P.O Industry is QUALITY & that is for the fight between the companies in the industry has been raging all these years!
